God gives each parent the privilege and responsibility of packing his or her child's emotional suitcase for a healthy Christ-centered journey.  Children will leave home one day to follow dreams, goals and start families of their own.  As parents we are to begin preparing them for the future at birth.

Begin the packing process with love, tenderness, patience and prayer.  As they grow, pack ways to share and care for others, standards by which God's children are to live.  Pack the difference between right and wrong, daily bible reading and how to become a Christian.

As they enter their teen years, rough roads may lie ahead. Be sure their commitment to Christ is firm. Do not overlook the importance of time together as well as unconditional love and self-esteem when you pack.

Remember, that in turn their suitcase is being packed by the way they see you live your life.  Therefore, what you consider significant in life will be important to your children, and what you disregard will be treated with even less importance by them.

As they continue on their journey, the time will come when your packing will be done.  If we failed in providing healthy emotions and Christian values, they will find their beliefs, values and acceptance from an uncaring and immoral world.

May this tiny suitcase be a reminder to ask yourself daily; "what good things have I packed for my child today?"
